Definition:

Polytheism in Jungian terms refers to the multiplicity of archetypes within the psyche, each with its own influence and demands. It contrasts with monotheism, which Jung equates to an overidentification with a single dominant archetype.

Example:

Recognising the diversity of inner archetypes helps clients balance conflicting drives and achieve psychological wholeness. For example, acknowledging both nurturing and assertive aspects of the psyche fosters integration.
